WEEK ONE (July 7&10) - MURAL PAINTING $25/CHILD: We will explore the idea of public art, and study famous murals as inspiration. We will use giant plastic and cardboard sheets as our canvas to create oversized, colorful scenes.
WEEK TWO (July 14&17) - ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN -CASTLES $25/CHILD To begin we will observe different historical themes in architecture, and use them to inspire the architect within us. We will design and build a giant cardboard castle together as a group.
WEEK THREE (July 21&24) PAINTING YOUR SELF PORTRAIT $30/CHILD Using acrylic paints you will design and paint your self-portrait on canvas. We will explore self-portraits of famous artists as a source for inspiration and discussion.
WEEK FOUR (Monday, July 28th) - THROWING WORKSHOP WITH BRIAN MURPHY $35/CHILD AGES 5-12! Master Potter Brian Murphy from New Hampshire will host this week’s workshop. Learn throwing basics, and make your own functional ceramic piece on the wheel! We will fire it here, and you can come back to paint it too! (Thursday, July 31st) - LANDSCAPES WATERCOLORS $30/CHILD Learn some watercolor techniques with watercolor paints and watercolor pencils. We will take advantage of our ocean view to paint some beautiful landscapes.
WEEK 5 (August 4&7) - MIXED MEDIA COLLAGE $25/CHILD Choose from an array of materials and supplies to create a mixed media collage. This will be a great workshop to experiment and play.
WEEK 6 (August 11&14) - DRAWING BASICS $25/CHILD We will explore the basics of drawing techniques with a variety of fun drawing exercises. Students will use these techniques for a final drawing of a giant still life.
WEEK 7 (August 18&21) - SCULPTING TECHNIQUES $25/CHILD Students will learn some basic techniques for hand building with clay to create a sculpture of their own imagination. We will be painting with slip glazes, and pieces will be fired right here at Sun Fire and ready within one week to take home.
WEEK 8 (August 25&28) - Tie Dye! $25/CHILD Learn some cool & unique tie-dye tricks to create a crazy tie-dye t-shirt. Bring anything of your own from home that you’d like to tie-dye as well: sheets, socks, t-shirts, aprons, anything!
